Ceremony – Burke Street Headland, The Strand, Townsville

Photo Locations – The Strand Park, The Strand & Pallerenda

Reception – The Pier Restaurant, Townsville

Congratulations, it is fabulous to see a great couple finally get hitched! I came to know this couple a few years back just after the birth of their firstborn Zac, when they commissioned me to take some portraits for them. I also took some more later, after the birth of Sam, and there is a portrait I remember well, it is still a favourite.DSC_9273 copy Of course it was an honour to be asked to also photograph their wedding, and to be a part of such a special day. Even after photographing hundreds of weddings, I still love the buzz and personal touch of each wedding, they are never the same.

The suites at Jupiters are great for photography, with the perfect amount of natural light that wraps around and makes everyone look good. The girls were very relaxed when I arrived. We had planned to take some special boudoir shots of Jo after her makeup was complete and before she put the wedding dress on! These were a suprise for Paul.

After spending about 90 minutes with the girls, my assitant and I headed over to The Strand to catch up with the boys before the arrival of the the bride. I found Paul in amongst family and friends with a huge smile on his face. We managed to get some quick family portriats before the bride arrived.

Not long after we arrived at the ceremony, the bride did  arrive and the day was in full swing. Wedding shoots are like several portrait shoots all rolling into one emotionally charged day, I love the energy of them.

The headland on the strand was covered in family and friends all gathered for the couple, I remember my own wedding and how overwhelming it can be to see all of your favourite people there for you in the one place! If only we could stop time.

After a personal wedding ceremony there were a lot of hugs and kisses for the couple and a large group portrait to be taken, along with the many traditional family portraits.

After we took few portraits along and around The Strand, we headed off to Pallerenda, especially to catch the views back to Townsville. Although it is a little drive out to Pallerenda and it takes about 20 minutes, it never disappoints as a location, it is my favourite beach spot, very popular with the fishermen too!

Paul and I had discussed him bringing along some tradie props for the photoshoot as all three boys are very handy, I believe.

Back at the the reception, I could not believe what a stunning sunset it was looking up to the North West. The Pier Restaurant was an awesome location to take it in, it feels like you are on a boat floating in the harbour!

Do you recognise that the bottom layer of the cake looks a little like Jo’s dress? I know the bridal waltz was something that was special for Jo and Paul and I was able to capture some great shots of it for them. Congratulations to Jo and Paul, I loved photographing your wedding!
